Our items are proudly made in the USA (Western Pennsylvania). MrTrain.com listens to what our customers want and can’t find, so we continue to introduce new items based on what people in the model railroad hobby are transitioning to. We introduced the next generation, Adam into the business in 2020. Adam took over the business in 2025. His expertise & knowledge with technology makes it easier to provide you with innovative items for this hobby. His goal remains the same: to provide great products for the model railroad and toy trains hobby while also providing a 5-star experience for the model train and miniature train collectors. We are proud to make the items in the United States while also providing a fair price. We understand the current charges and tariffs from imported items are causing a strain on the wallets, so to stay competitive, we build our items using as much raw materials and utilizing local vendors as much as possible.
Much of our miniature scenery works great for other hobbies such as dioramas, bird houses, doll houses, school projects, and other creative projects that you are working on.
HOW WE STARTED: Alan personally has been collecting model trains for over 54 years and wanted to turn his hobby into a business. He started by getting trains out of their boxes and up on display. He built a 12’ x 20’ room for his collection of Lionel model trains. His goal was to display his toy trains without having support brackets. This led to designing an aluminum display shelving system that held the entire collection, including the heaviest locomotives without any bowing, sagging or worry. He soon realized other people had a need for these model railroad display shelves for their train collections, which included other brands such as Menard’s, Atlas, Railking, Lionel, American Flyer, so he began selling online.
Soon afterward, he started making handcrafted bridges, trees, tunnel portals, and accessories for his train room from up-cycled materials (from local companies). They became an instant success!
MrTrain.com products are also popular with other miniature hobby enthusiasts in the dollhouse, bird-house, lineman, crafting, and wedding venues, so we have expanded our line of products and custom items to meet their needs.
